MONSTA X’S I.M REVEALS THE NEXT CHAPTER AS AN ARTIST AS HE SIGNS AN EXCLUSIVE RECORD DEAL WITH SONY MUSIC KOREA
After establishing himself as a dynamic musician, MONSTA X’s I.M has just taken his next step to global success. The idol has chosen Sony Music Korea as his new agency and signed an exclusive contract with the label.
Sony Music Korea announced the recruitment of a new artist on the official SNS. The image that was unveiled generated quite a buzz among fans given that it revealed a silhouette that reflected the image of the rapper.
I.M, who debuted as the youngest member of the group MONSTA X in May 2015, has demonstrated his mettle as an all-round artist with his wide range of musical spectrum, which included not only rapping, but also penning lyrics, composing, and arranging tracks for the group’s diverse discography.
Besides this, the powerhouse artist has also highlighted his rich musicality through his various solo releases as well including “Who Am I” and “Fly With Me”. Moreover, in February of last year, he also dropped his first solo mini-album DUALITY which went on to top the iTunes Worldwide Album Chart and the Top Album charts in 18 countries and regions.
In August, all members of MONSTA X, excluding I.M, re-signed contracts with Starship Entertainment. Before leaving the agency, I.M concluded discussions to remain a part of the group.
At the time, in a handwritten letter, he averred, “We’ve been together for a long time, but now I think that I need a new challenge that will have a different meaning for me, so I made this decision after much consideration.
He added, “To Monbebe, who created our happiest and brightest moments with us. I will prioritize MONSTA X’s promotions and MONSTA X will be with Monbebe as six, like always. He further expressed his promise to become “Im Chang Kyun and I.M who shows you an image of continuing growth.”
Meanwhile, with the signing of a contract with Sony Music Korea, there are a lot of expectations for I.M’s future activities as to what new projects he will enchant fans with.
