Monbebe prepare yourselves as MONSTA X’s Kihyun is here to melt your hearts with his mellifluous vocals!
MONSTA X’s Kihyun dropped a heart warming cover of Jung Joon Il’s sentimental song “Hug Me” today. The vocalist without a doubt, left listeners speechless with a his rendition that was both mesmerizing and moving as well.
It wouldn’t be far fetched to state that Kihyun sounds absolutely angelic. His breathy vocals against the soft piano harmony creates an evocative ambiance and gives the otherwise heart rending track a certain dreamy vibe.
To say that the lyrics of the track are emotional would be an understatement as the song is an expression of the agonizing pain of a heartbreak as seen in the lines, “Can’t overcome this sadness in my heart/ Another sleepiness night, I endure it once more/ I really don’t mind the sadness/ It absentmindedly wakes me up again in the morning/ The pain hurts me more that I expected/ It’s digging in deeper than I thought/ In the countless nights I spent resenting you/ It feels like hell for me.”
While the lyricism is unquestionably poignant, Kihyun brings the essence of the track to life with his expressive singing style especially his signature high notes that depict the anguish and desperation of the lachrymose ballad as he sings, “Please just hug me, hug me even for a while/ Without any words, please just come to me/ With all the loneliness and uncertainty/ Can’t you see I’m still here waiting for you/ I love you, I love you/ I shout it out, break this long silence/ It may seem weak and foolish/ But it’s my true feelings.”
Kihyun has previously shared stunning covers of Imagine Dragons’ “Believer” and “Natural”. And with each cover, the singer has only proven why he is indeed a powerhouse artist with his dynamic demeanor and his passionate style which reflects in each of his performances. There is indeed no doubt that Kihyun is one of the finest musicians and the latest cover is only testament to that.
