MONSTA X’s leader Shownu showcases his lovable charisma in the latest issue of Cosmopolitan Korea’s pictorial!
On August 19, Starship Entertainment shared a pictorial cover of MONSTA X’s Shownu, which is a part of 20 show stopping covers of Cosmopolitan, to commemorate their 20th anniversary. Looking every bit the fashionista he is, Shownu rocked a casual yet fierce look as he posed on top of a car dressed up in a leather jacket and pants.
In the interview following the photo shoot, Shownu expressed his excitement on being on the cover for Cosmopolitan’s 20th anniversary. When asked how different did it feel to be working alone versus working with members, he said, “When working as a team, we have to look at the overall picture and it is no different working alone as I do it thinking as being MONSTA X’s Shownu.” Talking about the group having celebrated their 5th anniversary the MONSTA X leader stated that he doesn’t feel like they’re that old, he stated, “It’s hard to say that I feel exactly the same as I did when I was a rookie, but its not much different from that time as I’m working on my schedule just as I did then.”
Talking about his bond with the members, Shownu shared that a relationship creates a bond by fighting and reconciling. But, having said that, he does not get too angry at all. Shownu said that he thinks a lot and always ponders over things before he says something thinking, ” What will come back to me if I talk like this?” he added, “Even if i get angry I think ‘If I put up with it, I can get over it so do I need to be angry?”
Speaking on his appearance on entertainment shows, Shownu confessed, “Rather than trying to overthink that you should be good or fun, just do it. At first, when people talked, I would try to intervene but it didn’t work out. I’m not very funny anyway, so if I’m trying to force it, it looks weird, so I just relax now. I don’t say much but I work hard at the games.”
“All the members are passionate. We think we can do better. When we practice, we don’t do it in moderation, we work hard. I don’t think about the future by setting a specific goal. Because of COVID-19, it seemed to be satisfactory just to show my face to fans like this while preparing for a concert during this break,” Shownu averred while speaking about MONSTA X’s future before adding that, “No matter how many friends I have, the only ones who can truly express my sincerity are our members. We share a room and so we spend a lot of time together even when we don’t have a schedule. “
Not long ago, Shownu had appeared with Jooheon on an episode of Knowing Bros. Reminiscing about an instance, the singer stated that he had written ‘Smart Person’ in his future wish column. Explaining the same he said that he doesn’t necessarily mean that one is knowledgeable or had common sense. He feels that a person who gets along well with people and does not panic in any situation and does what he has to do is a smart person.
Talking about the words that matter most to him, Shownu admitted that its when “Fans say, “I’m happy because of Shownu.”
Being a cool artist himself, when asked what kind of person he thinks is cool, Shownu said, “To love yourself. I want to do it, but I’m not good at it. Its good to see someone who has self-love and knows how to pursue their own happiness and I think that qualifies as a cool person. Those people have passion and work harder. On the other hand, I’m chasing life thinking, “What should I do?”
Being as it is Cosmopolitan’s 20th anniversary, Shownu was questioned about where he sees himself after 20 years. He exclaimed, “I wish all of MONSTA X, including me, age well. As an artist, even when I’m 40 or 50 years old, I want to be trendy like Park Jinyoung and Usher.”
Meanwhile, Shownu is all set to release a collaboration OST with Minhyuk for the popular Daum webtoon She’s My Type. However, the release details of the same remain under wraps at the time of writing.
