Wonho has truly dazzled with one impressive feat after another this year, isn’t that right WENEE?
Wonho truly proved that he owned 2020 as he attained some awe-inspiring accomplishments soon after his much-awaited debut in September. The adoring artist had spellbinded listeners with his mini-album that spotlighted his multifold musical talents.
So much so that recently, the British digital magazine DAZED picked the singer’s lead track of the album, “Open Mind” as one of the “Top 40 Best K-Pop Songs Of 2020” as well.
DAZED praised Wonho and said that “Open Mind” is a track that beautifully blends the singer’s two passions i.e muscles and music that “find a captivating foothold in groove-heavy seduction”.
The feature further adds that “The track’s beauty is in maintaining a simplicity; Wonho’s vocals keep a gentle but firm hand on the wheel, and the instrumental is superpowered with funk and synths that distort with an eye towards Daft Punk’s “Aerodynamic””.
Teen Vogue also selected the lethal track as one of “The Best K-Pop Moments Of 2020”. They highlighted the instance wherein a fan edit of the track went viral. It featured Wonho in a half-zipped top and garnered over 1.5 million likes. They also stated the video was just an introduction to his artistry that is nothing short of being “mad elegant”.
At the time of his debut, Wonho showcased that he is indeed the king of K-Pop as his first mini-album Part.1 Love Synonym (#1) Right for Me took the crown and topped the iTunes Worldwide Albums Chart. It also settled on the top 3 of the iTunes K-POP charts in 30 overseas regions soon after its release.
Furthermore, “Open Mind” had ranked at No. 4 on the World Digital Song Sales Chart. Part.1 Love Synonym (#1) Right for Me showcased its global popularity as it had ranked ninth on the Billboard’s World Albums chart. It had also entered the Heatseekers Chart at No. 19, Album Sales Chart at No. 81, placed at No. 28 on the Emerging Artists Chart, and ranked at No. 51 on the Current Album Sales Chart.
Besides this, the album had positioned at first place in the September 3-week weekly album rankings compiled from September 7 to September 13 on Japan’s Oricon Chart. It also ranked at No. 1 on Hanteo Chart’s weekly global chart for the third week of September compiled from September 14 to September 20.
Moreover, the vocalist has been interacting with fans on his official YouTube channel “ohhoho”. He has been stirring hearts with his sweet charms and it is evident as his channel also recently surpassed 100k subscribers.
The “Losing You” singer has certainly been winning and these stellar feats are just a testament to the global popularity of the powerhouse musician as he continues to amaze as the all-round artist he is!
